What is Jasper?
Jasper is a content marketing tool powered by AI that our team strategically uses to help streamline the content creation and ideation process. In this blog, we’ll discuss how to set up a brand voice for your business and how to apply that brand voice to Jasper’s various templates.

How to Add a Brand Voice to Jasper
From Jasper’s homepage, click on Brand Voice. You have a few options from here to add content that represents your brand voice. You can copy and paste your text, upload a file, or enter the URL.
I highly recommend choosing a piece of your content that you particularly like or has a lot of engagement from your audience. Selecting copy from your website that you’re particularly proud of will teach Jasper to write in a similar way.
We have a recent blog about How to Streamline Content Creation with AI. I’ll add that blog to Jasper. Then, you’ll want to choose a name for the voice depending on what form of content it is. You may have different voices depending on the type of content that you’re adding such as blog content vs. social media vs. email.
Once you add the content and assign it a name, Jasper will analyze your text and detect the tone of voice in that text. From there, it will create a brand voice summary of what it sounds like to readers. You can easily edit that voice summary as needed.
This is a very important step in the content creation process on Jasper. If your brand voice isn’t accurate, then the content that Jasper generates won’t sound like your business.
Exploring Jasper’s Content Creation Templates
Once you’re happy with your brand voice(s), you can start creating content based on it. To do so, go to Create Content at the top left of the page. There are several options from here.
You can just start with a blank document and work off of that. But Jasper also has a wide variety of helpful templates that you can use depending on the specific type of content that you’re trying to create. When you select “View All Templates,” you’ll see multiple options, including:
- Paragraph generator
- Content improver
- Social media posts
- Marketing ideas
- Amazon listings
- Video marketing ideas
- Video scripts
- Email workflows
- SEO keyword ideas
- Website company bios
- Unique value propositions
The list goes on and on. I highly recommend going into the templates and testing them out. You’ll be blown away by the different types of content that you can create in just a few minutes.
Generating AI Content in Jasper
As an example, let’s dive into the one-shot blog post template. Select the Brand Voice that you just set up. If you have information added to your Knowledge Base, you can choose what to include at this point as well.
BNP Engage has several items within our Knowledge Base, including target audiences, industries served, and company overview. Once you’ve added everything you need, hit “apply”. Your Knowledge Base and Brand Voice information will then be incorporated into the content that Jasper generates.
Then, choose a blog topic. For our purposes, it can be “How Jasper streamlines the content creation process”. The quality of Jasper’s output is all about your initial prompt and the knowledge that you incorporate within your request.
In the next step, adding the Intended Audience will ensure that Jasper specifically references these individuals in the outputs. For our example, we’ll include CMOs, CEOs, and marketing managers as the Intended Audience. That way, we’re making sure that we’re speaking to the right audiences and maybe not just a general person who’s writing content for fun.
Once you’ve included all the information you need, hit “Generate Content”. Within seconds, Jasper starts generating content right before our eyes. It talks about how creating high-quality content is crucial for any successful marketing strategy and specifically references the individuals that we’re really trying to target.
Exploring the “Ask Jasper” Feature
You can also ask Jasper to provide heading tags because that is missing from the blog output. We always want to make sure that everything is optimized for SEO. Hit the backslash on a blank section of the screen and ask for optimized heading tags to support the blog content. Then, Jasper will take a few more seconds to generate that content.
Let’s say the copy that Jasper creates isn’t in the tone that you wanted. Highlight the second you want to update and you’ll see an “Ask Jasper” feature appears. This function allows you to:
- Improve writing
- Change the tone to either one of your brand voices or one of the tones in Jasper
- Change the length of the content to be shorter or longer
- Summarize the content
- Repurpose the content for different platforms
- Translate it into multiple languages
If anything doesn’t seem like it quite sounds like your brand, definitely go in and make those updates within the document. Never just copy and paste the content that you receive from Jasper. Make sure that everything looks like it was written by a human and is aligned with your voice and tone.
